Evening Prayer

Good Evening,

"... Jesus said to Simon Peter, 'Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" (John 21:15)

We've all got our own "these." What are your "these"? The things that keep you from following God with everything you've got?  Once you've identified them, pray about handing them over to God. Hope you had a great day! Love always!

When I retired and moved to a warmer climate, I started writing prayers to my sons, family members and closes friends.  It is my way of letting them know I think and most of all pray for them everyday that the Lord allows me to wake up and see another day. Even though, I am so far away from them they are forever in my heart and mind. Some of my prayers are written by me. Some are sent to me from another friend, whom I had the pleasure of working with in the pass. Some prayers are taken from the Internet, as well as, from daily prayer books.

Good Morning,

Life has its way of knocking us down, but God always has His ways of picking us up and making us stronger so we can make it through every trail in life.  With God all things are possible!!! Trust and believe.....

In Honor

of

Mother Itaska Jackson

July 13, 1929 -June 7, 2014

My Dearest Friend Trice, Mr. Jackson, and Family,

Itaska, better known as Trice, is one of my oldest and dearest friends. We lived next door to each other in Kinloch, Missouri. My fondest memories are of us playing house in the backyard all morning and afternoon. We baked cakes of mud and cooked many pots of greens and ham hocks with dandelions and rocks.  At that time in our make believe world, we did not know we were simulating qualities of our mothers for both our mothers were homemakers. We had no idea that those characteristics of our mothers would be the qualities we fall back on throughout our adult lives.
I remember your mother, Ms. Task, as we called her in the neighborhood as being loving, sincere, and a Godly mother. A Godly mother shares a special relationship with God. Most of the time when I saw your mother, she was either coming from the grocery store or from church on Sunday. I always received a pleasant smile and greeting.  I never remember hearing her raise her voice.  Every once in a while, I would hear one of the boys getting a spanking and pray you guys didn’t hear me the day before when I got my spanking. Children can spot counterfeit spirituality faster than adults. I am witness to the fact that your mother invested time to build her walk with Christ. She was the real deal!
I pray the love of God enfolds you during this difficult time. It is never easy to lose a parent, no matter your age. I pray for your peace and comfort as you and your family continue your life journey without your mother’s earthly presence. May God’s peace be with you. Cherish the memories you have created with your mother. I will always remember her for her caring and loving nature.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)
Sincerely your friend,
Shelly (Nola Lee) and the Cothran Family

April 4, 1928 - May 28, 2014

Author and poet Maya Angelou, who rose from poverty, segregation and violence to become a force on stage, screen and the printed page, has died. She was 86.

Good morning, Dr. Maya Angelou's last tweet says it all! "Listen to yourself and in that quietude you might hear the voice of God." It is said that when we pray we talk to God, but when we meditate God talks to us. We've lost a precious jewel!!!! Sorry, didn't send yesterday's!

Morning Prayer

Good morning,

Morning Prayer

Good morning,
"The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." (Psalm 23) Those who know Jesus are never alone.

Good morning,
Thanking God for the things we sometimes take for granted: sunrise, sunset, stars on a clear night, and for the evidence of Spring that gives me such an overwhelming feeling of Your awesomeness. Thank you for waking me and for this cup of coffee that I take pleasure in every morning. I thank you for family and friends you have placed in my life. Thank you for me, Lord. I feel YOU! Enjoy this day and love always!

Morning Prayer
Sunday, March 23, 2014

Good morning,
"These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to HIM: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren."  (Proverbs 6:16-19)

Have a blessed Sunday and love always!

Good morning,
This morning my prayers, readings, and thoughts are on "spiritual warfare." If you choose to follow God, you automatically have an invisible enemy, the devil. Give him NO power!!!!! The "devil" is slick, deceiving, evil, and invisible. Yes, invisible. How do you fight an invisible enemy? He plants negativity in one's spirit. "Why am I suffering with this illness? Why am I unemployed? The only way to fight an invisible enemy is through prayer. Don't ignore this reality of spiritual warfare. KEEP PRAYING! Be blessed. Love always,
